John certainly helped us achieve it. Since the building has been completed, it has become one of the favourite locations for students
The chapel, which can be found in the centre of St Pancras and Islington cemetary in Islington and is Grade II listed, had experienced years of unsympathetic treatment and we were appointed to survey and itemise the extent of repairs required, so a renovation contract could be prepared and a significantly extended lifespan be secured.
Our detailed condition survey and measured survey were developed into a specification which was used as a basis for tender. We went on to administer the contract on site. The centre piece of the works was the removal of a modern suspended ceiling to reveal stained glass windows and to upgrade the existing roof to provide ventilation and insulation.
Our involvement ensured the project was completed on time and we were nominated for the Local Authority Building Control Awards.
“We asked Harding Bond to assist with several properties within St Pancras and Islington Cemetery, a key building being St Pancras Chapel. We understood our legal obligation towards listed buildings and we were confident that Ronan could navigate the whole process, from writing a conservation specification, taking it through listed building consent, to tendering the scheme and administering the conservation project on site. Our confidence was well placed and Ronan delivered the project on time and on budget with minimal client instruction.”
